Privacy policy

The short version

This site publishes cost guides and calculators. It runs no accounts, no newsletter and no database of its own, and every calculator works entirely in your browser — nothing you type into one is sent anywhere, including to us.

Two things do collect information. The quote form is operated by Leads Do Work Ltd, and what you enter there goes to them, not to us. The price-report form is handled by Web3Forms and reaches us by email. Both are described below.

Who we are

cost-calculator.co.uk is published by Quotatis UK. The quote-matching service available through this site is operated by Leads Do Work Ltd, who can be contacted through leads.work.

We are still confirming with Leads Do Work Ltd whether we are a controller, joint controller or neither for information submitted through their quote form, and this page will be updated to name the position precisely. In the meantime, treat their privacy notice as governing what happens to your enquiry once it is submitted.

How the quote service works

When you ask for quotes, the details you provide are used to identify tradespeople who cover your postcode and carry out that type of work. Your enquiry may then be passed to one or more of them so they can contact you directly.

Our role is limited to publishing the form. We do not carry out the work, oversee it, or become party to any agreement between you and a tradesperson. Any contract is made directly between the two of you, and each tradesperson who receives your details generally acts as a separate and independent data controller from that point on.

What the quote form may collect

• Your name
• Your email address
• Your telephone or mobile number
• Your postcode and the address of the property
• The type of property, and whether you own, rent or manage it
• A description of the work you want done
• Your preferred timeframe
• Anything else you choose to include, including photographs

Please do not include sensitive personal information in a description or an upload unless it is genuinely necessary.

Published examples of enquiries

So that homeowners can see the kind of work being requested near them, our regional pages show anonymised examples of past enquiries submitted through Leads Do Work.

We remove more than is strictly required. Before an example appears on this site we strip the name entirely, the email address entirely, and the street name entirely. What remains is the month, the outward part of the postcode — the first half, covering several thousand addresses — and the description of the work. We publish nothing older than two years.

Our lawful basis for this is legitimate interests: genuine local examples help homeowners judge what work in their area actually involves. You can object at any time. If you would rather your enquiry were never used in this way, contact Leads Do Work Ltd through leads.work and it will be excluded.

Reporting a price

If you tell us a published price looks wrong, that form is handled by Web3Forms, who pass the message to us by email and store submissions on our behalf. Giving your email address is optional, and we use it only to reply. Everything else you send is used to check and correct the page.

Information collected automatically

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is cookieless. It records page views and general technical information such as browser type, device type, approximate country and the referring page. It does not set cookies, does not fingerprint your device and does not track you across other websites.

Leads Do Work Ltd and Web3Forms may collect their own technical information when you interact with their forms, including your IP address and how you used the form, in line with their own policies.

Who receives information

• Independent tradespeople, where you have asked for quotes. They may contact you by telephone, email or text about your enquiry.
• Leads Do Work Ltd, who operate the quote service.
• Suppliers who support this site, including hosting, email and analytics providers.
• Where the law requires it, including to a court, regulator or law enforcement body, or to establish or defend a legal claim.

We do not sell, rent or exchange personal information with unrelated businesses for their own marketing.

How we make money

When you request quotes through this site we may receive a referral fee from Leads Do Work Ltd. You pay nothing, and you are under no obligation to accept any quote. This arrangement has no bearing on the prices we publish, the guidance we give, or the order in which anything appears.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to ask what personal information is held about you, to have it corrected or erased, to object to or restrict its processing, and to receive a copy of it. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Because this site holds no personal information of its own, a request about an enquiry you submitted should go to Leads Do Work Ltd, and a request about information a tradesperson holds should go to that tradesperson directly.

Changes to this policy

We update this page when the way we handle information changes. The date at the top always reflects the current version.
